Enrique Garcel is a renowned Colombian designer celebrated for his exceptional craftsmanship and innovative designs in the realm of luxury furniture and decorative arts. Born on March 10, 1930, in Lima, Peru, Garcel developed a passion for art and design at an early age. He began his formal education in architecture at the Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería in Lima but soon realized that his true passion lay in furniture design and decided to pursue it as a career. He traveled to Europe to study under the guidance of esteemed designers and master craftsmen, honing his skills and expanding his knowledge of traditional and contemporary design techniques. 

In the late 1950s, Garcel returned to Peru and established his own furniture workshop, where he started creating unique and exquisite pieces that blended traditional Colombian craftsmanship with modern design elements. His work gained recognition for its meticulous attention to detail and the use of luxurious materials such as bone, goatskin, and shagreen. Garcel's designs often featured bold geometric forms and a distinctive Art Deco revival style, making his pieces highly sought after by collectors and interior designers. 

Garcel's collaborations with prestigious design firms, such as James Rosen for Pace, further elevated his profile in the design world. His pieces, including bamboo and chrome lounge chairs, tessellated bone armchairs, and lacquered goatskin tables, exemplify his commitment to combining functionality with artistic expression.
