Fernando Botero

Fernando Botero (1932–2023) was a Colombian painter and sculptor celebrated for his instantly recognizable style, known as Boterismo. Characterized by voluminous, exaggerated forms, his work infused figures, animals, and objects with a sense of monumentality, humor, and humanity. Over his prolific career, Botero reimagined classical masterpieces, depicted scenes of Latin American life, and addressed social and political issues with a uniquely satirical yet tender approach. His paintings and monumental bronzes have been exhibited worldwide, making him one of the most influential and beloved Latin American artists of the 20th and 21st centuries.
