Fredrick Ramond Glassman was born in 1931 in Los Angeles, California. Confined to bed during his childhood due to severe asthma, he developed a fascination with light and design, leading him to sketch and build models to pass the time.In 1965, he established Fredrick Ramond Lighting in Cerritos, California, focusing on high-end residential lighting that combined modernist and Art Deco influences. Over his career, Glassman patented nearly 500 designs, contributing significantly to mid-century and postmodern lighting aesthetics. He passed away in 2007, after which Hinkley Lighting acquired his company and continued producing designs under the Fredrick Ramond name
