James P. Maher (1923–1997) was an American sculptor known for his expressive figurative works in bronze and mixed media. His sculptures often explore themes of human emotion, spirituality, and movement, rendered with textured surfaces and dynamic forms that emphasize the physical presence of the figure.

Maher studied art in the United States and developed a practice rooted in traditional sculptural techniques while embracing modern expressive forms. Throughout his career he created both gallery sculptures and commissioned public works, earning recognition for his ability to capture psychological depth and symbolic meaning within the human form.He received a National Academy School of Fine Arts Certificate of Award May 23, 1968.
