Collection: Robert Sonneman
Born in 1943, Sonneman began his design journey at 19 as the sole employee at George Kovacs, a lighting store on Manhattan's Upper East Side. This experience introduced him to modernism and lighting design, leading him to create his own line in 1967. His iconic designs from the 1960s and '70s, such as the Orbiter and Eyeball floor lamps, became emblematic of the era's space-age aesthetic.
With over 1,600 designs to his name, Sonneman has become a seminal figure in lighting design. His work continues to influence contemporary designers and is celebrated for its timeless appeal and innovative approach. Despite the renewed interest in his vintage designs, Sonneman remains focused on the future, constantly exploring new possibilities in lighting design.
